ESIC bans three players from team Rebirth after evidence of corruption regarding a CS:GO tournament.

2 CS:GO players suspended for 5 years

The investigation for match-fixing targeted Sebastian “retchy” Tropiano, Kevin “4pack” Przypasniak and Carson “nosraC” O’Reilly. A recording came up, in which they were talking about match-fixing at ESEA Season 35: Premier Division North America.

The match that they were talking about was against Russian Canadians and never took place because RC forfeited.

ESIC teams up with the FBI for investigations

After the recording appeared, Esports Integrity Comision (ESIC) teamed up with the FBI and started an investigation.

On 23rd of August, ESIC distributed on their site the updates of the investigation.

ESIC bans the CS:GO players according to the regulation. retchy and 4pack cannot play any competitive CSGO until 2026. Carson “nosraC” O’Reilly had a 111-day ban issue that he already served.

Carson has a shorter time period because he had “only one inconclusive sentence” in the audio. This year he can’t perform at ESEA because of his implications.

The other two players mentioned in the recording haven’t been charged.  Alex “vek” Voynov and David “J0LZ” Jolin are free to take part in any CS:GO tournament.

The events where ESIC is the watchdog are ESL, DreamHack, BLAST, WePlay, Eden and Relog Media. ESIC also warned that all non-partner tournament organizers keep retchy and 4pack out of their events.

34 additional investigations are ongoing

The CSGO community waits for other updates from the match-fixing investigations since 2020. Everyone wants to see the results from the other 34 individuals for breach of the anti-corruption code during the ESEA in 2020.

“Most pertinent to the complications faced and the length of this investigation is ESIC’s observation of compelling evidence that suggests that organized crime groups and foreign betting syndicates were involved in fraudulent activities during the course of season 35 of the ESEA Premier: North America.
